Morgan Hill, California, May 23rd, 2013 – FlemingMartin is pleased to announce that Jason Bates has been named Chief Supply Chain Officer for Specialized Bicycle Components in Morgan Hill, CA. The search was led by Marty McMahon, who commented, “Jason is an outstanding supply chain professional and leader of people. We were delighted to find someone of his caliber for Specialized. Jason not only possesses cycling industry experience, but he also adds large company procurement and planning skills and a worldview that comes from living and working abroad.”
Jason comes to Specialized from General Mills, where he led demand and supply chain planning efforts in their Canadian operations. In addition to General Mills, his past employers include Quality Bicycle Products and Dell, Inc. During his time at Dell, Jason lived in China and transitioned North American purchasing and inventory planning responsibilities to a team in Shanghai.
In addition to Jason’s skill in managing people, product development, and the fundamentals of supply chain management, he is also a great athlete. He began cycling at the age of 13 and competed in numerous road races along the East Coast. When his career with Dell brought him to China, he became increasingly active and began running. It wasn’t long until Jason joined fellow ex-pats in Shanghai and started competing as a triathlete, an activity he still participates in today.
